Behind the Bars Culminating Event

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, The B.R.O. Experience Foundation invites you into one of the most powerful rooms you'll ever sit in.

Behind the Bars (BTB) is a healing-centered program where young Black men in Brooklyn are given something rarely offered to them — space to be honest, to feel, and to grow. Over the course of this program, the young men of Frederick Douglass Academy 7 in Brownsville, Brooklyn did exactly that.

This night is their culminating showcase. Their testimony. Their art. Their transformation — live.

A 4 Year Anniversary Celebration & Culminating Exhibition

A 4 Year Anniversary Celebration & Culminating Exhibition

  • 7 Marcus Garvey Boulevard Brooklyn, NY, 11206 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

On behalf of the B.R.O. Experience Foundation, we are thrilled to invite you to our 4th annual anniversary celebration and culminating exhibition at the B.R.O. Space on June 13th, 5:30 pm

Please RSVP here.

This year, the B.R.O. Space has been one integral site of our work alongside multiple schools across Brooklyn. Our programs have been instrumental in helping countless young men build resilience, confidence, and leadership skills necessary for their success. As we celebrate 4 years of growth as an organization, we remain committed to the importance of space as something that is both held and co-created – every school, room, or circle we step into holds transformative potential that is grounded in the presence, camaraderie, and brilliance of every participant in the room.

To reflect on the tremendous progress of our participants and the spaces we have created together, we are excited to announce a culminating gallery exhibition entitled "The Room Where it Happens" that will showcase our participants' work across programming. As our participants have navigated their own personal development journeys over the past months, they have created physical manifestations of their dreams, how they see themselves, and how they see their communities. We are so excited to reflect upon their hard work together and witness the transformative impact of their self-reflection.

The B.R.O. Experience Foundation’s 4th Anniversary event will be a night filled with inspiration, entertainment, and great company. Please join us in celebrating our shared achievements and looking forward to what we can accomplish together in the future. You will also have the opportunity to network with like-minded supporters who share our vision of empowering black boys. We hope you can make it a priority to attend.

We look forward to welcoming you on June 13th, 2024, at 5:30 pm at the B.R.O. Space. Please RSVP here.
