BRO Experience Featured in Right On!
We're grateful to Cynthia Horner and Right On! for featuring our Executive Director, Barry Cooper, in a new interview on preventing youth violence. The piece, "Creating Safer Communities: Solutions For Preventing Youth Violence," dives into the ideas that shape our work at the B.R.O. Experience every day.
Barry talks about why young people aren't inherently violent, and how negative behaviors are usually tied to environment, unmet needs, and a lack of support. He shares how trust with young people is built slowly, through consistency, not demanded overnight. He also speaks to the economic pressures many families face, and why prevention has to go beyond employment programs into teen-centered spaces built for mentorship and emotional growth.
It's a message we believe in deeply: prevention starts with connection, consistency, and creating spaces where young people know they belong.
Thank you to Right On! for helping us share this work with a wider audience.
